JOHOR BARU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is expected to decide on its candidate for the Tanjung Piai parliamentary by-election in a special meeting in Pagoh on Friday.
Johor Bersatu chairman Mazlan Bujang said the meeting would be chaired by party president and Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“Bersatu Johor has not yet appointed an elections director.
“I would suggest we appoint Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) at the meeting,” he said here today.
Mazlan said the 14-day campaign period announced by the Election Commission yesterday was normal and would not be a problem for Johor Bersatu.
“I don’t see any problem with that, but personally, I’d prefer a shorter campaign period,” he added.
The by-election will be held on Nov 16.
The late Tanjung Piai MP, Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik, died on Sept 21.
