PUTRAJAYA: The four Malaysians who were killed in a traffic accident in Kaikoura, New Zealand, are to be buried at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Christchurch, at 12.30pm (local time) tomorrow.
The Foreign Ministry said the solat jenazah (final prayers) for the four deceased would be carried out at the Al Noor Mosque at 11.30am (local time).
“The ministry wants to express its gratitude to the local authorities as well as the Malaysian community in New Zealand for all sorts of assistance rendered to victims’ next-of-kin,” it said in a statement today.
The deceased are Dr Rumihati Abd Hamid and her husband Adanan Jemain, both 49; and their daughters Nuraleeyah Maisarah Arifah, 13 and Nur Irfan Adanan, 15, who succumbed to her injuries two days after the accident on Friday.
Adanan, Dr Rumihati and Nuraleeyah were killed at the scene when the car they were in collided with a truck about 3pm (local time).
The sole survivor of the tragedy is the couple’s youngest daughter, Nur Arifah, 11, who is fighting for her life at Wellington Hospital.
They had arrived in New Zealand on Dec 2 for a family holiday.
