Two ex-ministers exposed to Covid-19 patient; now undergoing tests

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) member Wong Chen has called for health precautions to be taken after an ex-minister and an ex-deputy minister were found to have been exposed to a Covid-19 patient.

In a Facebook post this morning, Wong Chen wrote: "Good morning. In view of the fact that the Khazanah Covid-19 victim was in touch with an ex-minister and an ex-deputy minister about a week ago, we have to take extra precautions."

It is believed that tests are being conducted on both ex-ministers, as they may have attended many political meetings during the week-long political crisis.

Chen said he feels it necessary to place himself in quarantine for a period of time.

"Please do not panic. The main aim is to be knowledgeable and help contain the spread. Those who have come in contact with a Covid-19 victim should practice a bit of self-quarantine, discipline, and if sickly, to contact the hospital for tests.

"I am perfectly fine, health-wise, this morning. I will be working from home and will engage my officers via a conference call at 10am."

A Khazanah Nasional Bhd worker is among four new Covid-19 cases confirmed by the Health Ministry on Sunday.

In a statement, the nation’s sovereign wealth fund said that they were notified by health authorities that one of their employees had been diagnosed with Covid-19 and is now being treated at a government hospital.
