KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians working in Singapore will be able to work and stay in the republic during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri said today.
He said the Singapore government has agreed to provide temporary housing aid for all Malaysians working in the city-state.
“On Malaysia-Singapore relations, we had a discussion yesterday and Singapore has decided to create a place for Malaysians to stay (on the island) for the next two weeks.
“After that, when they come back, the Singaporean government will help organise medical check-ups for them to ensure they are healthy,” he told a press conference through a Facebook live feed today.
Ismail added that two committees were formed following the discussion – a joint committee involving himself and his counterpart in Singapore; and a working committee between chief secretaries from several ministries in Malaysia and Singapore.
“The Johor government will also be involved in this, as it involves the movement of our people in Johor and Singapore on a daily basis,” he added.
