JOHOR BARU: Generosity knows no boundaries, even when everyone is facing difficult times.
As Malaysians stay in for the nation’s safety, a post by “Polis Johor” Facebook page tells of the reality of some people’s hardship during this time of need, as the Movement Control Order (MCO) enters it second week.
It is probably an uncommon sight to see parents bringing their child to play at the playground during the MCO. But two policemen witnessed this when they saw a family of three hanging out at a playground in Taman Tampoi Indah, here.
Johor police told the New Straits Times that the incident happened yesterday, the same day the Facebook posting was uploaded.
The parents was then approached by Corporal Mohd Hisham Mustafa and Constable Mudrikah Nazirul Nordin from Johor’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JPST) during their “OP Covid-19” rounds, who politely asked them to go home.
But upon approaching the family of three, the wife who works as a cleaner in the Larkin suburb, revealed that she was told to go on leave during the MCO.
The Facebook posting said the husband had recently quit his part time job in Singapore as his work permit expired.
The two policemen then again asked for them to go home, but the wife started to cry, said the posting.
“The wife began to cry and told the policemen that they had no money and they had no food supply at home.”
The police officers then brought the family to a sundry shop and gave them supplies of infant milk formula for their one-year-four-month old child. The police officers were so affected (when they were told) that the child had only been given Milo mixed with sugar to drink.”
The couple told the policemen that they were dumbfounded on how to continue their days as even their supply of Milo was almost running out in the household.
After bringing the family to the nearby convenient store and picking out the food items, they sent the family back to their rented room at Taman Tampoi Indah.
The heartwarming post has received over 11,665 shares on Facebook and counting.
Social media users are continuously praising the policeman’s good effort in helping out fellow Malaysians.
“Good job abang polis, we hope for the government to help those in need, as there is more than meets the eye (when it comes to our situation now),” said Radzie Rashid II.
“Congratulations Sham and friend who are able to help those in need, especially during this desperate time.. I’m proud of you, my son-in-law. May you and all the police officers stays under Allah’s grace while performing duty… Amin,” said Maryam Mahmod, which could possibly be a reference to Mohd Hisham.
