KUALA LUMPUR: The government has assured students who have been told to remain at their dorms in their respective universities or colleges during the ongoing Movement Control Order (MCO) that they will be well taken care of.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said parents should not worry, as the government will continue to ensure the students’ welfare.
“I’m sure many parents are beginning to feel worried and restless, as the students have been in their dorms and hostels for over 14 days.
“The government will ensure the welfare of their children. We leave this to the Higher Education Ministry.
“InshaAllah, they will be well taken care of,” he said at a press conference today.
He also said that the Higher Education Ministry has extended the application deadline for admission to tertiary education institutions via the Central University Admission Unit online portal, UPUOnline, to April 17.
“This applies to Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) school leavers, and those with equivalent qualifications, who want to enter public universities, teacher education institutes, matriculation colleges, community colleges and skills training institutions,” Ismail Sabri added.
