PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry received close to RM13 million in cash aid, as well as essential medical equipment and hotel rooms from several quarters today.
Present to receive the donations at the ministry was Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
15 government and private agencies, as well as non-governmental organisations donated to the ministry's Covid-19 fund.
Yayasan Wakaf Malaysia donated a total RM300,080 cash to the fund.
The donation was presented by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Ahmad Marzuk Shaary as a representative of the foundation.
Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad chief executive director Zafri Abdul Halim presented RM10 million cash to the fund for the purchase of test kits, while Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) donated RM1,970,929.
It's president and group executive officer Abdul Jalil Abdul Rasheed presented the donation to the health minister.
Pharmaceutical Association of Malaysia (PhAMA) board director Tan Sri Mohd Ariffin Mohd Yusuf donated 2,000 personal protection equipment (PPE) sets, 150,000 pieces of face masks, and 9,000 hand sanitizers worth RM541,500.
Coway Malaysia, represented by its managing director Choi Ki Ryong, donated RM300,000 to the fund.
Meanwhile, the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) donated 150 hotel rooms at Ruai Inap in Kajang for health ministry staff who are on duty there.
Co-Op Bank Pertama chairman Kamari Zaman Juhari donated RM200,000 to the fund, while ProKhas Sdn Bhd corporate services general manager Juanita Rusmini Abdul Jalil, donated RM150,000.
Star Medik Sdn Bhd managing director Johari Abu Kasim donated face masks worth RM150,000 and Mr DIY donated 2,000 PPE sets and 5,000 pieces of face shields.
The Social Entrepreneurship Foundation (YKS) donated some 10,000 pieces of N95 face masks worth RM60,000, which were presented by its president Datuk Seri Baharuddin Ahmad Basir.
Me.Reka Innovative Education, meanwhile, donated 10,210 units of face shields, while Malaysia Small Farmers Association donated RM25,000 cash to the fund.
Coast Guard Sdn Bhd president Datuk Seri Abdul Nor M Shah donated about 100 units of Covid-19 test kit worth RM10,000 and the Malaysian Medical Welfare Fund president Harolhanam Mohamed Wahid donated 6,000 pieces of face masks.
