Covid-19: Saudi govt donates medical equipment to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will receive medical equipment such as face masks, face shields, and ventilators from Saudi Arabia, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

He said all equipment, to help the government and the Health Ministry curb the spread of Covid-19, would be channeled through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.

"This good news was shared to us by the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr Mahmoud Hussein Saeed Qattan during our meeting at Wisma Putra today," he said in a statement today.

The medical equipment includes five million surgical masks, one million N95 face masks, 741,840 units of jumpsuit overalls, 300,000 face shields, 200,000 head covers, 200,000 protective clothings and 100,000 boot covers.

The Saudi government would also contribute 150 portable ventilators, 100 non-invasive ventilators, and 80 intensive care unit ventilators.

Hishammuddin said in total, the Saudi government had contributed 7,542,170 units of medical equipment to Malaysia.

He said to date, one million N95 face masks had arrived here and hd been handed over to the Health Ministry. Other equipment will arrive in stages.

"The willingness of King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Saudi Arabian government to assist Malaysia in this matter proves the good bilateral relations between the two countries

"On behalf of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Malaysian government and all Malaysians, I am very thankful to King Salman Abdulaziz AlSaud; Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud; and all government leaders of Saudi Arabia.

"I pray that this good relations between our two countries remains intact, insha Allah."
