Ismail Sabri: No more interstate travel

PUTRAJAYA: There will be no more interstate travel allowed during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period, said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said starting today, those who try to sneak back to their hometowns would not only be told to turn back, but will also be compounded on the spot.

"We have decided not to allow interstate travel at all.

"So you don't need to queue at police stations. The police will not allow anyone to travel interstate anymore," he said at his daily press conference today.

The Senior Minister (Security Cluster) said the government was serious in preventing interstate travel, adding that the authorities would not compromise or tolerate anyone flouting the rules.

"Yesterday, 2,412 who tried to travel interstate to 'balik kampung' were told to turn back.

"The people's interest to go back to their hometowns did not change despite being repeatedly advised not to do so." he added.
