IPOH: A Rohingya refugee suspected of being infected with Covid-19 has fled a quarantine centre in Tanjung Rambutan, here.
The disappearance of Rohim Mohd Zakaria, 27, was noticed at 11am yesterday by health personnel who were about to conduct a test on him and 57 others at the centre.
Rohim weighs about 65kg, is between 165cm and 168cm tall, and has short black hair.
"They conducted a search, but he was nowhere to be found.
"The medical staff then lodged a police report," said Perak Criminal Investigation Department chief assistant commissioner Anuar Othman.
He said Rohim had earlier been referred to the Slim River Hospital.
Last week, Rohim and two companions were stopped at a roadblock along the North-South Expressway near Behrang for flouting the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) and committing immigration-related offences.
Anuar said the three were in a car travelling from Sentul.
"However, Rohim was released on police bail because he had complained of shortness of breath and showed symptoms of Covid-19.
"The three were referred to the Slim River Hospital and the initial test came back negative.
"But Rohim (and the other two friends) were required to undergo a two-week quarantine period at Tanjung Rambutan here," he added.
