KUALA LUMPUR: Several incentives will be provided to working parents during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period to help ease their burden with regard to childcare expenses, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
He said the government will help support this group through subsidy of childcare expenses.
"eVouchers will be provided for mobile childcare services until the end of August and there will be an increase of income tax relief for parents on expenses related to childcare services from RM2,000 to RM3,000," he said when announcing the short-term Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana) today.
Aside from parents, Muhyiddin said incentives will also be given to childcare centres to encourage them to comply with the new healthcare standard operating procedures (SOPs).
A one-off grant will be given to registered childcare centres and incentives will also be provided to train new practitioners for child nursing and early education.
"To increase parents' confidence in sending their children to government childcare centres, the government will provide grants to childcare centres to encourage them to comply with our new healthcare SOPs," he said.
