KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians will enjoy one gigabyte of free internet, from 8am until 6pm daily, until the end of the year to enable the country to embrace the 'new normal' brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
This quota is limited to education sites and video conferencing.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the initiative, which is made possible through close cooperation between the government and telecommunications service companies in the country, is among the 40 incentives under the RM35 billion Penjana Economic Recovery Plan.
Under this initiative, Muhyiddin said internet users will also enjoy unlimited access to the government's websites and applications, including MySejahtera.
"Whilst embracing the new normal, it is important for us to ensure continuity in our daily lives, especially in terms of work and the education for our children," he said.
