KUALA LUMPUR: Almost all social activities as well as other economic sectors will be allowed to resume in stages under strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) throughout the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) period.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said several sectors and activities are still barred under the RMCO, which starts on June 10 and ends on Aug 31.
"This includes pubs, nightclubs, entertainment outlets, reflexology centres, karaoke centres, theme parks, mass religious parades, 'kenduri', open houses or other activities that involves the attendance of many people which makes it hard to maintain social distancing and compliance of the SOPs.
"More information on the list of activities and sectors that are allowed and barred is available on the National Security Council website," he said during a special televised broadcast today.
Muhyiddin said as the country heads towards the normalisation phase during the RMCO, several activities and sectors which were previously on the negative list during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will be opened based on the stipulated SOPs.
He said for example, business operating hours can now resume as per normal but premises owners and customers must adapt to the 'new normal' of doing things.
"Social distancing, wearing face masks in public areas and washing hands with soap or using hand sanitiser are the new norms that must be practiced," he added.
Among the business activities allowed to resume during the RMCO include barbers and hair salons as announced earlier by Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Muhyiddin added that other business activities allowed to resume during the RMCO include open markets, morning markets, night markets, bazaars, food court, food trucks and food stalls.
"In addition, commercial activities which involve transactions and tradings outside business premises will also be allowed to resume operations during the RMCO.
"Other permitted activities during the RMCO include visits to museum, indoor busking and self-service laundry centre, recreational and fishing activities including commercial fishing pond; as well as filming activities," said Muhyiddin.
