PUTRAJAYA: Reports have been flying around that a worker at a barbershop in Setapak contracted Covid-19 a mere two days after reopening his shop.
Senior minister (security cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was asked to confirm this at his daily press briefing today.
However, the minister said he has yet to receive an update on the matter from the Health Ministry (MoH).
"Maybe MoH director-general (Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah) will say something about this at 5pm," he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri reminded hair salon owners to ensure their foreign workers have undergone Covid-19 screening before they are allowed back at work.
The senior minister said only foreign workers who have been tested negative for the novel coronavirus were allowed to return to work.
He said the authorities could take action including instructing these hair salons to cease operations if they were found violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ismail Sabri said consumers have the right to ask the operators for proof if there are foreign workers working at their premises.
"Every foreign worker needs to be screened, and they will have the result from the clinic after they complete the swab test.
"As a consumer, if you realise that there is a foreign worker at the hair salon, you can ask them for the document to prove that they have undergone the test, if they fail to do so, you should immediately report to the authorities as it is an offence," he said.
