KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pro-Chancellor Tan Sri Dr Abdul Rahman Arshad died today.
The university's Governance and Secretariat division, UiTM Registrar Office in a statement said his remains would be brought to the Jamiul-Huda Mosque at Jalan Pinang in Kampung Melayu Ampang, Selangor, and later to Kampung Air Limau at Masjid Tanah, Melaka, for burial.
"May his soul be placed among the pious," it said.
It was learnt Abdul Rahman died at his residence in Taman Ampang Utama, Ampang, Selangor, about 10.45am.
Abdul Rahman was appointed as UiTM Pro-Chancellor on Dec 15, 2002.
The Education Ministry took to Twitter to convey its condolences as Abdul Rahman was the former Education director-general in the late 80s until the early 90s.
"May his soul be blessed and placed among the righteous," it said.
Keadilan president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also conveyed his condolences to Abdul Rahman's family via Twitter.
"I have the opportunity to visit my former teacher few weeks ago. My prayers are with the family, may they find the strength during this trying time."
