KUALA LUMPUR: People have been advised against bumping their fists in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
The current trend which took the place of handshakes to curb Covid-19 infection still involved physical touch and this was not advised, said deputy Health Minister 1 Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali.
"Touching includes hand-shaking and fist-bumping, which has become a trend that sees people bumping and grinding (their fists). Do we wash our hands after that?" he asked.
"The ministry recommends putting your hand on your chest and bow as a sign of respect. The current trend (fist-bumping) is not good and we should be more careful," he said at the Dewan Negara sitting today.
Dr Noor Azmi was responding to an additional question by Senator Lim Pay Hen who wanted to know the government's action plan for the country following the report by scientists that the pandemic was expected to last for another two years. - Bernama
