KOTA BARU: A 17-month-old baby boy is among two Covid-19 sufferers detected in Kelantan, today.
State Health Department director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said the second case is a 25-year-old man – and both are close contacts of Case 162 in the state.
"The man (Case 163) is the sibling of Case 162; and the baby boy (Case 164) is the nephew of Case 162.
"They were exposed to Case 162 (from Sept 22 to Sept 28), before the patient was admitted to hospital.
"Samples from the two cases were taken on Sept 29 during close contact screening for Case 162 – and both were confirmed positive for Covid-19," he said when contacted by Berita Harian.
Dr Zaini said Case 162 was in Sabah from Sept 19 to 22 before being confirmed as Covid-19 positive on Monday.
"The baby is currently being treated at the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, while the man is warded at the Tumpat Hospital for further treatment.
"Preventive measures and efforts to contain the virus are being carried out by the Kota Baru district health office.
"The public is advised to adhere to standard operating procedures by practicing physical distancing, wearing face masks while in public places, and avoiding handshakes, touching and hugging," he added.
