KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 21 premises will be inspected as part of a probe by the Negri Sembilan Department of Environment (DoE) into foul-smelling pollution at Sungai Semenyih.
Environment and Water Minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said four task forces have been activated to facilitate investigations into the river pollution which resulted in water supply disruptions to more than 300,000 consumers in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang.
"The Negri Sembilan DoE met with several government agencies, including the Veterinary Services Department and Fisheries Department this morning.
"Four groups have been formed to identify the cause of the pollution.
"A total of 21 premises have been shortlisted in the investigation into the matter," said Tuan Ibrahim on his official Twitter account today.
Up to 274 locations in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang are experiencing water service disruption as a result of the pollution.
The incident forced Air Selangor to halt operations at its water treatment plants in Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi.
