SEGAMAT: A Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) train with 10 passengers from Gemas to Johor Baru derailed near the Genuang railway station early today.
The derailment saw a locomotive and two passenger coaches go off the tracks at KM595 in Genuang here.
KTMB chief executive office Datuk Ir Kamarulzaman Zainal said all passengers and staff inside the train were not injured in the 2.40am incident.
"The derailment involved two coaches and a locomotive. The main railway track can still be used and does not block any train," he said in a statement today.
Kamarulzaman said there might be some delay of trains in the southern sector between Gemas and Johor Baru. This, he said, follows instruction for all trains using the route to reduce speed.
KTMB, he said, also issued an apology to all passengers involved in the incident and that the company has also provided alternative mode of transport for the affected customers to proceed on their journey to the Johor Baru Sentral station.
"A thorough investigation has been initiated to identify the cause of the incident," he said, adding that the probe was being conducted by the agencies under the Transport Ministry including the Land Public Transport Agency.
