KUALA LUMPUR: The China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd has confirmed that a staff from their base-camp in Maran, Pahang, had tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus.
In a statement, the company said staff worked in its laboratory in an independent environment, located separately from their base-camp and away from various work sites.
"Following the instructions from the Health Ministry, those who have been in close contact with him are being tested for Covid-19 as well as undergoing 14-day self-quarantine.
"Meanwhile, we proceeded with shutting down the said laboratory for thorough santisation in accordance with the standard operating procedure issued by the ministry."
The company said it believed the case was a "localised, isolated incident", and would not affect the overall progress of the East Coast Rail Link project.
