KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) will pay a 4.25 sen income distribution for 10.2 million unit holders of Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2020.
PNB will also pay a 0.75 sen Ehsan income distribution for the first 30,000 units of ASB, bringing the total income distribution if the flagship fund to 5.0 per cent, in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of ASB.
This will involve a total payout of RM7.6 billion to the 10.2 million members who hold a total of 173.2 billion ASB units.
Group chairman Tan Sri Dr Zeti Aziz said this brings the total cumulative income distribution and bonus payout of the fund for the past 30 years, since its inception in 1990, to RM159.6 billion.
"Against a backdrop of volatile financial markets, ASB continues to deliver a competitive distribution of 4.25 sen per unit. Also, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of ASB, an Ehsan payment of 0.75 sen per unit will be made on the first 30,000 units held.
"ASB's performance remains competitive relative to other low-risk investment instruments. ASB continues to be a sound option for individuals with a low risk profile and a long-term investment horizon," she said at a virtual press conference here today.
PNB's asset under management AUM grew 2.7 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to RM320.5 billion as at November 2020, while units in circulation increased 3.4 per cent to 263.2 billion units with more than 200,000 new accounts registered during the year.
Meanwhile, ASNB's unit trust management company Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN) has announced the income distribution for its first variable price fund with a total income distribution payout of RM36.6 million or 2.02 sen per unit for ASN for FY20.
The total payout will benefit 1.21 million unit holders with more than 1.8 billion units.
PNB said this reflects a dividend yield of 3.18 per cent based on the expected Net Asset Value (NAV) of the fund as at December 31, 2020.
As at 30 November 2020, ASN recorded a net income of RM44.3 million for the first 11 months of FY20.
