KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has been discharged from the hospital after recovering from Covid-19 today.
The state Agriculture and Fisheries Minister left the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) here, at 1pm, along with his wife Datin Seri Cecelia Kitingan.
In a statement, Jeffrey thanked the medical team who had been treating them especially State Health Department Director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi and QEH Director Dr William Gotulis.
He also extended his appreciation to the hospital's Infectious Disease Unit Chief Dr Lee Heng Gee and all the staff, who cared for them during their two-week quarantine at the hospital.
"Most importantly, I am grateful for a job well done by our frontliners who have been working tirelessly, sacrificing their time and energy in this war against Covid-19," he said.
Jeffrey had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since Jan 4 after he was found positive for the novel coronavirus a day earlier.
Also infected with Covid-19 are Jeffrey's assistant minister Hendrus Anding and state Public Works assistant minister Datuk Robert Tawik.
Both Anding and Tawik are believed to be still under quarantine.
Today, Sabah recorded 449 new Covid-19 cases and four deaths.
The deaths were registered in Lahad Datu (3) and Tuaran (1).
A total of 379 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals.
