Covid-19: SPM candidate positive, quarantine ordered for 86 MRSM students

KUANTAN: 86 Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates in Lipis have been placed under quarantine after a pupil tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

State National Security Council (NSC) chairman, Mohd Zairasyahil Shah Zakaria said the Form Five pupils comprising 84 girls and another two boys were ordered to undergo quarantine at the Housing and Local Government training institute in Bukit Tinggi, Bentong.

"The students are currently accompanied by three teachers at the training institute. The teachers will be responsible of looking into their welfare and other needs during the quarantine.

"The health department is waiting for the Covid-19 screening results for 27 other students," he said.

Earlier, it was alleged that two SPM candidates at the school had tested positive for Covid-19, while several others had started to display symptoms.

The Lipis MRSM has a total of 144 Form Five students who will be sitting for their SPM examination next month.
