Home quarantine patients relieved when pink wristbands removed

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Covid-19 patients heaved a sigh of relief after their pink quarantine wristbands were removed.

The final procedure took place at the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) in Kampung Ampang Indah here, after the patients had completed the 10-day home quarantine order and passed the assessment.

The Ampang Indah CAC is among 213 CACs nationwide that are conducting assessments of Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment at home.

Maudhah Abdul Hakim, 30, said she passed all the assessment procedures at the centre and had her wristband removed yesterday.

"The doctors and staff at the centre checked my body temperature, took my blood pressure, asked me to sit and stand up several times to check whether I was fit, and asked if I still had symptoms.

"Alhamdulillah, I passed all the assessments. I only had the swab test once at the Titiwangsa Health Clinic and tested positive on Jan 13. I thought it was just a mild fever, but I sought treatment immediately.

"Once I got the result, the doctor asked me to undergo a 10-day home quarantine," she said outside the centre yesterday.

Siow Sin Man, 51, said he, too, had his pink wristband removed and was waiting for his family to come out of the centre.

He said he and his family had undergone home quarantine after he tested positive for the virus.

"I got the virus from a close contact. My family also tested positive on Jan 13.

"We were told to undergo the 10-day home quarantine by the doctor.

"Today (yesterday), we are being released from the quarantine order and it felt good to have the wristband cut."

Adnan Rasulan, 24, said at the CAC, the doctor conducted the same procedures before releasing him.

Adnan got the virus from his girlfriend, who had a high fever and tested positive on Jan 13.

Since then, he underwent quarantine at his home in Cheras.

"I felt so relieved after the doctor cut my wristband today (yesterday).

"I thought my quarantine period would be extended. However, I passed the assessment."

He advised those who showed any Covid-19 symptom, no matter how mild, to seek medical treatment immediately.

Checks by the New Sunday Times at the CAC yesterday saw some patients waiting outside to get assessed.

Several medical staff and doctors in personal protective equipment were seen outside the centre as they monitored the situation.

The process was smooth and everyone adhered to the standard operating procedures.

Checks at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council CAC yesterday saw no activity or movement.
