KUALA LUMPUR: Workplace-related clusters continue to rise with 11 more detected today.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there are 13 new clusters today, two of which involve community and high-risk groups.
Four of these new workplace-related clusters were found in Johor — the Sri Menanti, Jalan Harmonium, Jalan Cyber Lima and Laman Desaru clusters.
"Selangor also has four workplace-related clusters, which are the Jalan Teknologi; Jalan Sungai Rasa; Tapak Bina Persiaran Mokhtar and Persiaran Hulu Selangor clusters.
"The Lengkok Pantai cluster was detected in Kuala Lumpur; Batu 38 cluster in Sabah and the Kampung Tandak cluster in Terengganu," said Dr Noor Hisham in a statement.
All of these 11 clusters have a total of 354 Covid-19 cases detected as of today.
Dr Noor Hisham said the Sebangkoi cluster in Sri Aman, Sarawak was identified as a community cluster.
"The index case (case-214,538) tested positive from a symptomatic screening test on Jan 31.
"The cluster was named after the locality where Covid-19 cases were reported which is at Kampung Sebangkoi, Undop in Sri Aman. From 447 people screened, 23 tested positive," he said.
Dr Noor Hisham also said the high-risk group cluster identified as the Taman Bukit Petaling cluster, involves Seremban and Jelebu in Negri Sembilan.
"The index case (case-230,336) tested positive on Feb 4, following a symptomatic screening test.
"The cluster was named after the locality, Taman Bukit Petaling in Kuala Klawang where a medical centre had been logging cases.
"As of today, 16 positive cases were detected, following the screening of 187 people," he said.
There are currently 451 active clusters with 79 clusters recording new infections.
"The Industri Serkam cluster recorded the highest number of cases today (Monday) at 329 followed by the Tanjung Suria cluster (218), and the Sungai Putus cluster (166).
Dr Noor Hisham said three clusters ended today — the Kolam Permai, Timbang Dayang, and Pompod clusters.
