Cops need more time to investigate former AG's book

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have requested they be given enough time to investigate the "My Story: Justice in the Wilderness" book authored by former Attorney-General Tommy Thomas, for alleged sedition, slander and defamation.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said the police have yet to finalise a date to record Thomas's statement to assist investigations.

"Many things have to be investigated pertaining to this issue. So, give us time. Even the date to record Thomas's statement has not been decided yet," he told Berita Harian, today.

Yesterday, Gerakbudaya founder who is also the book's publisher, Chong Ton Sin confirmed that he has given his statement to the police regarding the investigations.

Chong was quoted as saying that he spent almost an hour having his statement recorded at his office in Petaling Jaya last Friday.

Previously, the police reportedly received 134 complaints against Thomas regarding his book.

Based on the reports lodged nationwide, police opened three investigation papers on the matter.
