KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian integrated pharmaceutical group, Pharmaniaga Bhd is expected to receive its Covid-19 vaccine, manufactured by Chinese biopharmaceutical company on Feb 27.
Pharmaniaga said this in a Twitter posting on the matter which was confirmed by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, last week.
"The first batch of Govid-19 vaccine manufactured by Chinese biopharmaceutical company, Sinovac is expected to arrive on 27 February @npramalaysia @officialmosti @KKMPutrajaya @Khairykj," said the company today.
The Sinovac vaccine will arrive by the bulk, which than would be bottled and packaged by Pharmaniaga, while the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Division (NPRA) is in the process of evaluating the clinical data of the vaccine.
Previously, Khairy had said that the Sinovac vaccine would be purchased by the bulk as it was more economical.
Upon arrival in Malaysia, the vaccine would be diluted, before being bottled for the national immunisation program.
On January 12, Pharmaniaga entered into an agreement with Sinovac to obtain supply of vaccines that will go through the bottling process at its high-tech plant.
The agreement also includes the transfer of technology to the company.
