KUALA LUMPUR: Social events such as weddings are now allowed to be held in areas placed under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) and Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government now allows all types of social events, including official and unofficial events, organised by the government or private sector.
"The social events include wedding receptions, engagement ceremonies, aqiqah, doa selamat and tahlil events, birthday celebrations, reunions, retreats and others. For wedding receptions, it is extended to non-Muslims couples as well," he said during a press briefing.
Ismail Sabri said outdoor weddings receptions were also allowed to take place, but stressed that the public must follow standard operating procedures (SOP) including physical distancing.
"Please adhere to the SOP; there is no need to crowd an event," he said.
Ismail Sabri also said premises in CMCO areas could have 50 per cent of patrons based on its capacity, while premises in RMCO areas could have the number of patrons based on the size of the premises after taking into consideration the requirement for physical distancing.
He added the government also allowed the reopening of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector in Movement Control Order (MCO) areas from March 5.
"It also extends to seminars, face to face meetings, conferences, workshops, trainings, courses and trade exhibitions.
"The attendance is limited to 50 per cent (of the premise capacity) in CMCO areas while in RMCO areas the number of people allowed will be based on the size of the premises, with physical distancing," he said.
