Malaysia's first halal food delivery app 'Ode Jee' eyeing nationwide expansion

KUANTAN: Ode Jee, the country's first halal food delivery application, has set its sights on expanding its services across the country by the end of this year.

After starting operations in Johor last month, Ode Jee which will begin servicing vendors of various halal food and beverages in the east coast starting next month targets five million downloads by consumers in stages.

Ode Jee chief executive officer Yussaini Ali said next month the services will cater for consumers in Kuantan, Kuala Terengganu and Kota Baru followed by the Klang Valley, the northern states and West Malaysia by year end.

"Since its unofficial launch in January, the company has some 300 registered vendors who signed up through the application. We target at least 3,000 vendors to register in Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan, and aim for five million users nationwide in stages.

"All food and beverage vendors who are registered with Ode Jee have halal status, which is 100 percent owned and operated by Muslims with proper certification. We are providing more options for consumers to place their food orders," he told reporters after the Ode Jee application pre-launching ceremony by Pahang Religious Affairs chairman Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad.

Meanwhile Yussaini said the idea to setup Ode Jee was to capitalise on the online food delivery market which has gained huge popularity following the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

He said the company also offers job opportunities as Ode Jee food delivery riders and those hired will be given various attractive incentives to ensure their well-being is taken care.

Meanwhile Syed Ibrahim lauded the move to pick Kuantan for the launching saying the recently proclaimed city was regarded as the gateway to the east coast.

"The state government will provide the necessary support and I hope the new application will create more awareness among Muslims about the importance of halal compliance involving food items.

"The move to introduce the application is timely with the Ramadan month in April as consumers can place orders for breaking of fast without stepping out of their homes to help curb the pandemic," he said.
