Covid-19: New cases dip to three figures, first time in 2021

KUALA LUMPUR: The country's daily Covid-19 cases today fell to 941, the first time that the daily tally has dipped to three figures this year.

The last time the country recorded cases below 1,000 was back in Dec 9 with 959 cases.

The nation's total cases now stands at 342,885 with 14,219 being active cases.

From the total, 933 are local transmissions involving 653 Malaysians and 280 foreigners while eight are imported cases.

Data from the Health Ministry showed that Selangor topped the number of new daily cases with 219 followed by Sarawak with 192 cases.

Johor recorded 171 cases followed by Penang (164), Kuala Lumpur (57), Kelantan (49), Sabah (34), Negri Sembilan (18), Kedah (13), Melaka (8), Perak (5) and Pahang (5), Terengganu (4), Putrajaya (1) and Labuan (1).

Perlis had no new cases.

The number of recoveries today numbered 1,097, totaling 327,406 or 95.5 per cent discharged so far.

Five deaths were also reported to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) today involving four Malaysians and one foreigner.

This brings the death toll to 1,260.

A total of 166 patients are being treated in intensive care units while 73 require ventilator support.
