KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) remains steadfast in its responsibilities and roles mandated by the government to offer financial assistance and initiatives for Malaysians affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chief executive, Jay Khairil said BSN had offered Financing Rescheduling Package (FRP), Targeted Repayment Assistance (TRA) and Targeted Relief and Recovery Facility (TRRF) to individuals as well as micro entrepreneurs affected by the pandemic.
"We also offer support for micro entrepreneurs and businesses recovering from Covid-19 outbreak under the Strategic Programme to Empower the People and Economy (Pemerkasa) stimulus package.
"Therefore, we urge the affected customers to visit the nearest BSN Branch to seek relevant assistance or to find out more about our products via our website," Jay Khairil told the New Straits Times in an interview.
Jay Khairil said the bank also continued to implement a government-mandated role in inculcating the practice of saving especially during these difficult times.
He said, to encourage the habit of savings among the community, BSN had enhanced its flagship savings product Sijil Simpanan Premium (BSN SSP) with amazing prizes worth more than RM30 million for over 19,000 winners this year.
"It is our responsibility to ensure every Malaysian reaches greater heights while at the same time carrying out the mandate entrusted to us, which is to empower financial inclusion for Malaysians," he said.
BSN has also offered new draws, including the New Savers Draw.The draw is specially introduced for first time savers to encourage further saving habits among Malaysians, with the winner receiving BSN SSP worth RM50,000.
"BSN has also introduced the State Monthly Draw whereby one winner from each state will stand a chance to win the first prize of BSN SSP worth RM50,000 every month.
"BSN continues with the Local Draw with new prizes to be won. In February, May, and August 2021, a total of 13 winners will drive away with a Perodua Myvi 1.5 Auto, while 13 winners in the November 2021 draw will drive home a Proton X50 each," he said.
On its future plans, Jay Khairil said the bank would continue its quest by offering even more products and rolling out more digitalisation services that cater to the progressive needs of modern life.
