KUALA LUMPUR: The National Security Council (NSC) has agreed to extend the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Selangor, Johor, Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Sarawak.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the extension will take effect from April 15 to April 28 for the five states, while for Sarawak, the extension is between tomorrow and April 26.
Meanwhile, Perlis, Melaka, Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah, Putrajaya, Labuan, Perak, Negri Sembilan, will continue to be placed under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).
The RMCO extension will take effect from April 15 to April 28.
Ismail Sabri said, the extensions are due to the unstable trend in new Covid-19 infections detected nationwide and after the Covid-19 infectivity rate (Rt) or R-Naught value rose to 1.06 yesterday.
"The states that have shown a downward trend of new infections are Perlis, Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Terengganu and Sabah.
"The states that showed an unstable trend are Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang and Labuan while the states that showed a rising trend are Kelantan and Sarawak," he said.
He also said interstate travel will remain barred, except for tourism activities through tour agency registered with the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry under the interstate travel bubble for states under RMCO.
Inter-district travel, however, is allowed, except for Sabah and Sarawak, due to the decisions made by the respective state governments.
Ismail Sabri also said the government has agreed to impose an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Kampung Meruntum in Putatan, Sabah, starting from April 13 to April 26.
Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry has conducted 71 screenings and of the total, five positive cases have tested so far.
With another 62 samples waiting for results, he said, the EMCO would allow Health Ministry to conduct targeted screenings and prevent further spread of the Covid-19 to other nearby localities.
