KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has recorded 24 Hari Raya Aidilfitri clusters as of Thursday, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said this was due to failure to comply with the Hari Raya standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the government.
"Government previously announced that no interstate and interdistrict travels were allowed, while the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration was only permitted to family members from the same household; however there were those who failed to adehre to the SOP.
"As a result, 24 Hari Raya celebration clusters with a total of 850 positive cases have been recorded as of May 27," he said in a statement today.
Ismail Sabri said majority of the cases involved asymptomatic individuals.
"Of the total, 699 were asymptomatic cases and 151 were symptomatic patients.
"Data shared by the Health Ministry showed that Tumpat, Kelantan, has with the highest number cases related to Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration with 224 cases, followed by Simpang Sahari cluster in Labuan with 123 cases.
"I hope people will continue to adhere to the SOP as the daily positive cases are on the rise with more than 8,000 cases reported today," he said.
