KUALA LUMPUR: Both the agriculture and fisheries sector will continue to operate during the lockdown period.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said activities related to the supply chain of the sector were also allowed to operate during the lockdown that will be implemented in three stages starting Tuesday.
"For instance, (activities related to the production and selling) of fertilizers and pesticides are needed in agriculture.
"Hence, shops selling fertilizers and pesticides are allowed to operate," he said.
The plantation and commodities sectors, he said, such as palm oil, rubber, cocoa and pepper are also allowed to operate during the lockdown period.
"This included activities related to ensuring supply chain of both sectors such as transportation used to transport the (palm oil) fruits to factories and others," he said.
