KUALA LUMPUR: The government today listed down various types of businesses that are not allowed to operate during the two-week nationwide total lockdown or movement control order (MCO) 4.0 set to begin June 1.
The announcement on the total lockdown came on Friday after the country saw a record high of 8,290 new infections. The record however was broken the very next day where Malaysia saw 9,020 new cases.
In a press conference to announce the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the MCO 4.0 today, senior minister (security cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said businesses allowed to open can only operate from 8am to 8pm.
Among the activities that are not allowed include dine-ins, park and dine concept, photography, cyber cafès, horse racings, casinos as well as gaming and lottery companies.
Farmers' markets (pasar tani), weekly markets, night markets and pasar tamu are also not allowed.
However, daily markets and wet markets can operate from 6am to 2pm. Permanent farmers' markets (pasar tani kekal), MyFarm Outlets (MFO) and Kompleks Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan (PPK) can open from 6am to 4pm. Controlled fresh markets (pasar segar terkawal) can operate from 7am to noon. As for wholesale markets, they can open from 12.01 midnight to 6am and from 11am to 4pm.
Other businesses and services that are not allowed during the implementation of the MCO 4.0 are: spas, reflexology and massage centres, wellness centres, beauty salons, pedicure and manicure, hair salons and barbershops, furniture shops, car wash, jewellery stores, stationery and book shops, vehicle accessory shops, clothes, fashion and accessory shops, toy shops, sporting goods stores, flower shops and nurseries.
