KUALA LUMPUR: The country logged 6,824 new Covid-19 infections today, with Selangor contributing one-third of the positive cases.
The Health Ministry, in an update on its social media platforms reported that the cumulative cases currently stands at 572,357, including 79,523 active cases.
Selangor topped the daily tally of cases today with 2,111 cases, followed by Kelantan (695), Sarawak (654), Johor (489) and Kedah (464).
Only three imported cases were reported while the remaining cases were local transmissions.
Another 67 individuals succumbed to the coronavirus over the past 24 hours, raising the country's Covid-19 death toll to 2,796.
The youngest victim to succumb to the virus today is a 15-year-old boy in Kelantan who had leukaemia.
Currently, 851 patients are being treated at Intensive Care Units (ICU) nationwide, including 422 individuals who have been intubated.
A total of 5,251 individuals have recovered from the infection as of noon today, raising the country's recovery tally to 490,038.
