The Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia (SRAM) want to avoid another unfortunate episode as they look to get the preparation done early for players going for overseas competitions.
Earlier this month, Low Wee Wern, Rachel Arnold, Aifa Azman and Ivan Yuen were caught in an unfortunate situation as they were unable to leave the country for the El Gouna International in Egypt.
Despite meeting all requirements, including travel approvals and Covid-19 vaccinations in Malaysia, the quartet learned at the eleventh hour that they needed a polio vaccination to travel to Egypt.
As a result, they were forced to withdraw from what could have been their first overseas competition in 18 months.
SRAM want to avoid such mishaps again as they plan the entries for four tournaments in the United States and England.
First is the Squash on Fire Open in Washington on June 27-July 1, followed by the World Championships in Chicago on July 14-22. The two meets in England are the Manchester Open on Aug 9-13 and the British Open on Aug 16-22.
The players involved in the US and England meets are Wee Wern, Rachel, Aifa, Ivan, Syafiq Kamal and Addeen Idrakie.
"We are already in the process of getting the application done to get the travel approval as early as possible," said SRAM director Major (Rtd) S. Maniam.
"We are also double checking if there are any additional entry requirements to the US and England because we want to avoid another incident.
"As it is, we're looking to send them out by June 19 so that they arrive in the US earlier to go through the necessary tests and quarantine period before the tournament.
"After the Washington event and the world meet in Chicago, the plan is for them to fly to England directly instead of returning to Malaysia.
"For Syafiq and Addeen, if they can qualify for the draw of the Manchester and British Opens, then they will proceed as well.
"Hopefully, everything goes well without a hitch this time. The players are certainly very excited and looking forward to competing."
