PTPTN launches Stay Safe and Win campaign

LIVING with the new norms of the pandemic has presented an opportunity for parents to save money by channelling it to the Stay Safe & Win SSPN-i 2021 campaign.

The inaugural campaign under the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) offers existing and new depositors a chance to win lucrative prizes worth nearly RM240,000 when they save at least RM200 during the campaign from June 1 to Sept 30.

PTPTN chief executive officer Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid, who launched the campaign virtually on Saturday, said the rewards were a gesture of appreciation to SSPN-i depositors for their steadfast support and loyalty in continuing to save with them amid the pandemic.

During the launch on PTPTN's official Facebook page, Dasuki said the support of depositors motivated them to promote the benefits of SSPN-i with the hope that it would be parents' first choice of savings for their children's future higher education needs.

"The new norms have required us to work from home, study online and stay home. This has assisted
in easing certain expenses such
as for travel, entertainment and social activities.

"It is only right that parents plan and manage family expenditures. It is best that a part of the savings goes into their children's education fund.

"It is no doubt that our savings today will prepare us to face the days ahead, especially during this pandemic. Participating in the campaign is very simple, too," he said in his speech.

To open an account, a minimum deposit of RM200 during the campaign period is needed and retained for the next three months from Oct 1 to Dec 31 this year.

For every RM50 of savings, depositors will automatically qualify for one draw and are entitled for the silver, gold and platinum categories.

Dasuki said the eligibility of depositors in the respective categories was based on the net savings made during the campaign period.

"The more you save, the higher the chances of winning attractive prizes."

The grand prize of a Proton X50 is up for grabs in the platinum category where a minimum net deposit of at least RM15,000 is required. The second and third prize winners will take home a jewellery voucher worth RM10,000 and an Apple Macbook Air laptop, respectively.

Ten consolation prize winners will receive cash worth RM800 in SSPN-i savings.

In the gold category, where a minimum net deposit of RM8,000 is needed, a Perodua Myvi 1.5cc is at stake for the first-prize winner, a Dell Intel Core i5 laptop for second place and a RM5,000 jewellery voucher for the third.

In the silver category, where a deposit of no less than RM200 is a must, the first-prize winner will ride home a Yamaha Y15zr, while the second winner will receive a Dell Intel Core i3 laptop and the third winner a RM2,000 jewellery voucher.

A RM200 cash in SSPN i-savings will be given to 10 consolation winners.

Apart from the prizes, Dasuki said, there were other benefits such as tax relief of up to RM8,000, a competitive dividend rate and a ringgit-to-ringgit takaful protection for depositors.

Depositors need not doubt the SSPN-i as it is a syariah-compliant savings scheme certified by the Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia, he added.

"With the interesting prizes offered, I am confident that the Stay Safe & Win SSPN-i campaign will receive overwhelming response from the people.

"I would like to thank all those who have been supporting us and enabled us to stand strong today.

"As an agency that upholds the nation's higher education, we are always attentive and open to new ideas in efforts to raise awareness about the importance of savings from young.

"I hope these relentless campaign promotions will be a stepping stone and a drive, as well as catalyst to parents to start saving."
