KUALA LUMPUR: Employees Provident Fund (EPF) offices in Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) zones will be allowed to operate within a stipulated timeframe and capacity.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the National Security Council has given the green light for the matter.
He said these EPF offices in EMCO-imposed areas will be allowed to only open from 9am to 1pm with 60 per cent of their staff in attendance.
"This is to facilitate government assistance schemes. However, for smaller EPF offices in remote areas, they are allowed to operate at maximum staff capacity," he said in a statement today.
Last week, the government said it will allow people to withdraw a maximum of RM5,000 from their EPF account under the i-Citra withdrawal scheme.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri reiterated that restaurants in EMCO areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur can only operate between 8am and 8pm.
Premises located outside of EMCO areas, that are now under the Phase One and Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), may operate between 6am and 10pm.
He also said all the merchandise sold in grocery stores, convenience stores, supermarkets and mini markets can be sold to customers throughout the NRP.
"This is in response to confusion among (trade) premises owners, who had closed some sections of their respective shops, which had prevented some of their merchandise from being sold."
