KUALA LUMPUR: Recent progress of the country's vaccination rate could push other states to move to Phase 2 of National Recovery Plan (NRP) from as early as August.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the vaccination rate had already covered more than 10 per cent of the country's population, according to data by Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP).
This would mean that the country had met the vaccination target threshold in order to move to the next phase, he said, assuring that the country was in the right path to reach herd immunity.
"If the positive development continues, the whole country may well move to Phase Two by early August, joining Perlis, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Pulau Pinang, Sabah and Sarawak," he said in a statement today.
According to the latest figure, over 12 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide.
Some 8.3 million people have received the first dose, while 3.8 million have completed both doses to be fully vaccinated.
