KUCHING: Sarawak has allowed dine-in at eateries statewide, starting tomorrow. However, operators and their staff are required to have had at least one jab of the vaccine in order to resume business.
The Sarawak disaster management committee, in a statement today, said this was one of the improved standard operating procedures (SOPs) for eateries, which have been reviewed by the state Local Government and Housing Ministry in light of the presence of the Delta variant.
"Only restaurant operators and workers who had received (at least) the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine are allowed to open for dining in. They are allowed to operate from 6am to 10pm, with a 50 per cent workforce."
The committee said there must also be a two-meter gap between tables for dine-in customers to ensure physical distancing can be practised.
The maximum capacity of each premises must be displayed at the entrance.
For a small table (1m diameter), only two people are allowed. Tables with 1.2m diameter can seat four people while six people can sit at a 2m diameter table.
All music and live performances, including those in bistros, are still prohibited.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said eateries owners and workers who have not received their appointments for Covid-19 vaccination can contact their respective local council and authorities for priority vaccination.
On Wednesday, Sarawak put a halt to dining-in despite the state shifting into Phase Two of the National Recovery Plan after the detection of more Covid-19 cases involving the Delta variant in the state.
