PUTRAJAYA: A majority or 80 per cent of Covid-19 fatalities who were Brought In Dead (BID) to hospitals, were those without any history of undergoing tests for the virus.
Health deputy director-general (Public Health) Datuk Dr Chong Chee Kheong also said a majority of the BID cases involved non-Malaysians.
Dr Chong, who also heads the special Greater Klang Valley Task Force, added that the country recorded between 80 and 100 BID cases every week.
"Some 80 per cent of the BID cases involved those who either never had access to screening for Covid-19 or never came forward to be tested.
"A large number of the BID cases are non-Malaysians," Dr Chong told reporters here today.
He also said there were Covid-19 victims who died from the virus because they either arrived late for treatment or did not seek treatment at all.
