KUALA LUMPUR: Walk-in Covid-19 vaccination for Malaysians in the Klang Valley will be continued only at 13 specific vaccination centres (PPV), said the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).
The CITF, in a statement said the authorities came to the decision as the number of Malaysians walking-in for Covid-19 vaccination has been on the decline since the initiative began on Aug 2.
CITF said effective Aug 23, nine PPVs will allow walk-ins.
The nine are KL Convention Centre (KLCC) (HCO F, G and H); Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil (A, B); Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC), Shah Alam (HCO B); Bangi Avenue Convention Centre BACC); Hotel Wyndham Acmar Klang; Dewan Sivik MBPJ, Petaling Jaya; Stadium Tertutup Kuala Selangor; Dewan Seri Bernam, Sabak Bernam; and Dewan Kompleks Sukan Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Langat.
From Aug 25, two PPVs - Le Pavilion Gamuda Garden, Gombak and Bukit Beruntung Golf Resort - will be accepting walk-ins and from Aug 26, another two PPVs - Galaxy Mall Ampang and Universiti Multimedia, Cyberjaya - will be open for walk-ins.
CITF said Malaysians who missed their second dose appointments can visit any of the 13 listed PPVs close to their residence.
"If that specific PPV does not offer a vaccine of the same type as their first dose, the person will be referred to another PPV.
"Walk-ins are also based on first-come, first-serve basis depending on the supply capacity at the respective PPVs. Anyone who comes for walk-in vaccination on a day where supply has run out, will be placed on a list and asked to return the next day."
Meanwhile, CITF said for foreigners in the Klang Valley, the walk-in initiative which was allowed at the Stadium Nasional Bukit Jalil PPV until today will be replaced by vaccination through appointments.
The PPV will no longer allow walk-ins for foreigners starting tomorrow to ensure the vaccination process can run in a safer and more comfortable environment.
"Foreigners who have not yet registered for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) must do so either through MySejahtera, the NIP hotline at 1800-888-828 or the website www.vaksincovid.gov.my so an appointment can be given."
CITF added that every citizen who comes in for walk-in jabs at the PPVs and foreigners who go to a PPV by appointment must prove they are a resident of the Klang Valley by bringing relevant documents such as work cards, utility bills or others.
It said walk-ins for Malaysians in other states outside the Klang Valley would be continued as usual depending on the respective states.
