KUALA LUMPUR: The country recorded 12,434 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, an increase from yesterday's 11,332.
This brought the country's cumulative total number of cases to 2,232,960, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Sarawak remained the state with the most number of cases with 2,967 followed by Selangor (1,362) and Johor (1,289).
"Kelantan reported 1,125 new cases, Sabah (1,000), Perak (971), Penang (863), Kedah (652), Pahang (663), Terengganu (612), Melaka (375), and Negri Sembilan with 169.
"Perlis, Putrajaya and Labuan reported 79, 18 and five new cases respectively," he said in a statement.
Dr Noor Hisham said only 1.7 per cent of the cases (207 cases) were in Category 3, 4, and 5.
"The remaining 12,227 (98.3 per cent) were asymptomatic or have mild symptoms under Category 1 and 2."
On vaccination, Dr Noor Hisham said as of Sept 28, 61.1 per cent per cent of the population have been fully vaccinated, while 71 per cent have received at least one dose.
"As for the adult population, 85.1 per cent have been fully vaccinated, with 94 per cent having received at least one dose of their Covid-19 vaccine."
On bed occupancy at Covid-19 Intensive Care Units (ICU), Dr Noor Hisham said the Health Ministry recorded 64 per cent ICU bed usage as of Sept 28, while bed usage at normal wards was at 56 per cent.
"Penang recorded the highest ICU bed usage with 93 per cent (88 beds) followed by Terengganu with 89 per cent (38 beds) and Kelantan with 85 per cent (89 beds).
"Kelantan reported the highest bed usage at normal wards with 84 per cent (951 beds) followed by Perlis with 77 per cent (211 beds) and Sarawak with 72 per cent (1,420)."
He said currently 979 cases were being treated at the intensive care units, with 565 on ventilator support.
Meanwhile, 17,000 recoveries were reported today, bringing the tally to 2,037,099.
Dr Noor Hisham said as of Tuesday, the nation's infectivity rate stood at 0.88.
"Putrajaya recorded the highest Rt at 1.01, followed by Terengganu (1.00), Pahang (0.99), Perlis (0.98), Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak and Melaka (0.96), Johor (0.93), Penang and Negri Sembilan (0.88), Selangor (0.87), Kedah (0.86), Sabah (0.85), Kuala Lumpur (0.84) and Labuan with nil Rt value."
Dr Noor Hisham said 15 clusters were identified today, including nine workplace clusters and six community clusters. Currently, there are 1,124 active clusters nationwide.
