KUALA LUMPUR: The utilisation rate of intensive care units for Covid-19 cases in the Klang Valley hospitals stood at 85.6 per cent (132 cases) as of 11.59pm yesterday.
Based on data shared at the CovidNow portal, Putrajaya reported the highest with 90 per cent (seven cases) followed by Selangor with 88.2 per cent (93 cases) and Kuala Lumpur with 80.3 per cent (32 cases).
The nationwide utilisation rate was at 64.5 per cent or a total of 542 cases in ICUs.
The ICU occupancy rate in Kelantan stood at 77.6 per cent, Penang (71), Perak (68.9), Terengganu (64.9), Sabah (63.7), Melaka (60.9), Negri Sembilan (60.5), Sarawak (56.7), Johor (52.3), Perlis (47.4), Pahang (44.1), Kedah (43.2) and Labuan with 33.3 per cent.
As for hospital bed utilisation, the Klang Valley reported 62.2 per cent, or 310 daily admissions yesterday.
Selangor topped the list with 72.9 per cent (248 admissions), Putrajaya with 52.8 per cent (21 admissions) and Kuala Lumpur with 49.3 per cent (41 admissions).
The nationwide utilisation rate was at 68.5 per cent or 1,236 admissions.
The hospital bed occupancy rate in Labuan was reported at 87.3 per cent, Terengganu (86.6), Melaka (84.2), Kelantan (79.8), Perak (74.1), Kedah (73.7), Negri Sembilan (73.2), Johor (71.2), Pahang (68.7), Perlis (67.5), Sarawak (64.2), Sabah (60) and Penang with 58.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, Malaysia logged 45 Covid-19 deaths as of 11.59 pm yesterday.
The figure includes seven cases that were brought-in-dead (BID).
To date, the coronavirus has claimed 29,937 lives including 6,052 BID victims.
Sabah recorded the highest number of new deaths with 15 cases (including six BID), followed by Selangor with seven cases (including one BID), Kedah (five), Sarawak and Kelantan with four deaths each, Penang (three), Negri Sembilan and Pahang with two deaths each, and Melaka, Perlis and Kuala Lumpur with one death each.
Johor, Perak, Terengganu, Labuan and Putrajaya reported no new deaths.
At the national level, there was an average of 18 deaths per one million people over the past two weeks, with Klang Valley standing at 11 per one million people over the same period.
Terengganu and Sarawak recorded the most number of deaths per one million people in the same period, with 42 and 38 deaths respectively, followed by Kelantan and Perak with 25 each.
This was followed by Kedah with 20, Sabah (17), Perlis (16), Melaka (15), Penang (15), Negri Sembilan (14), Selangor (12), Johor and Kuala Lumpur with nine each, and Pahang with eight.
Labuan and Putrajaya reported zero fatality rates over the same period.
According to the same data, 39.6 per cent of reported deaths related to Covid-19 involved people who were unvaccinated against the virus for the past two weeks.
Partially vaccinated people accounted for 4.5 per cent of the total fatalities linked to the coronavirus in the country, and 56 per cent of the total deaths were those who have been fully vaccinated.
The data available on the portal also stated that most of the people who died from the virus were aged 60 and above (77.9 per cent) while people aged 18 to 59 accounted for 21.4 per cent of the fatalities, followed by those aged 12 to 17 (0.2 per cent) and 0 to 11 years old (0.0 per cent).
Currently, 76.4 per cent of the total population has been fully vaccinated against the virus, involving 24,964,238 individuals, while 2.1 per cent (693,112 individuals) have received at least one dose, and 22.4 per cent (7,317,045 individuals) were unvaccinated.
It is projected that the country will achieve its goal of 80 per cent of the population to be fully vaccinated in 217 days by June 25, 2022.
Meanwhile, 78.9 per cent of Covid-19 cases (54,174) are under home quarantine; 12 per cent (or 8,268) have been placed at integrated quarantine and treatment centres, and 8.2 per cent (or 5,635) are hospitalised.
The Health Ministry reported 542 patients currently being treated at Intensive Care Units (ICU) at healthcare facilities nationwide. Of the total, 268 are ventilated.
Malaysia had on Friday reported 6,355 new Covid-19 cases.
Selangor topped the list with 1,737 new infections, followed by Kelantan with 735 and Sabah with 543.
Other states; Johor with 497, Kedah (407), Pahang (358), Penang (356), Kuala Lumpur (324), Sarawak (292), Perak (284), Terengganu (258), Melaka (233), Negri Sembilan (214), Putrajaya (82), Labuan (19) and Perlis with 16 new cases.
