RANTAU PANJANG: Flood victims and those on duty at the relief centres in the district are required to undergo Covid-19 screening tests regularly.
Pasir Mas district health office medical officer Dr Wan Mohd Hafizullah Wan Mansor said the measure was taken as a precaution against the spread of Covid-19 at relief centres.
"There are between eight or nine health staff who are charged with the task at the relief centre here.
"They are from the Tendong health clinic and have been told to test every flood victim sent to the centre as well as those from other agencies who are on duty at the centre.
"Focus will be given to those who have health problems," he said when met at the SK Tok Deh flood relief centre, here, today.
Dr Hafizullah said that he would ensure the centre had an isolation room to separate Covid-19 flood victims from others.
"At this centre, I have been informed that there is already an isolation room but it will need a minor upgrade."
He said similar screening tests would be conducted at the flood relief centres in other areas especially those with more than 200 evacuees.
More than 400 victims had been evacuated to the centre so far.
