Number of flood evacuees in Kelantan decreasing

KOTA BARU: The number of evacuees in Kelantan has further dropped this evening compared to the afternoon.

As of 6.30pm, 1,402 flood victims from 482 families were taking shelters at the relief centres.

According to state welfare department's flood portal, there were eight relief centres opened in Pasir Mas and Rantau Panjang areas.

A total of 389 of the 1,402 were evacuated at SK Tok Deh, SK Kubang Kual (325), SK Gual Periok (254), SK Gual Tinggi (160), PPS Putat Tujoh (85), Masjid Mukim Padang Licin (78), SK Sri Kiambang and SK Kedai Tanjong (39).

The situation in Kelantan is almost back to normal with only the river Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang remained above its warning level while the river Sungai Kelantan in two districts measured above their alert marks.

The water level of other major rivers, however, have returned to normal.

As of 7pm, Golok river was measured at 8.65m which is 0.65m above its warning level of 8m.

Sungai Kelantan recorded above its alert mark in Kusial, Kuala Krai and Kampung Temangan.

The third wave of flood which began two weeks ago, so far did not record any fatal incident.
