WTCKL reopens as Mega PPV from Saturday, targets 9,000 AZ booster doses daily

KUALA LUMPUR: World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) is returning as a Mega Vaccination Administration Centre from tomorrow until March 15, in line with the Health Ministry's vision to speed up the administration of the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Its chief operating officer Fauzy Wahab said the operating hours will be from 8.30am to 9.00pm daily.

"Only AstraZeneca vaccines will be provided to the public at 9,000 doses daily. There will be three healthcare organisers involved in the programme, namely BookDoc, BP Healthcare and U.N.I Klinik." he said.

He said the vaccination process is by appointment only through the MySejahtera application or short message service (SMS) notification as walk-ins are no longer allowed.

Vaccine recipients, he pointed out are advised to bring their own pens to fill in the consent form as a collective effort to minimise physical contact at the vaccination centre.

"Priority lanes are set up in the centre for OKU individuals and senior citizens. There will be a Calm Room for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder and a medical room especially for medical emergencies at the PPV," said Fauzy.

Helpdesk counters will also be available next to WTCKL's main entrance near CIMB Bank to provide immediate on-site assistance to the public.

Additionally, he said the health Ministry plans to have a call centre in the venue to attend to vaccinee's inquiries. However, this is yet to be confirmed.

WTCKL managing director Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim said: "Coming back as a PPV is one of the ways that we want to show the people and government that we are ready to assist again, as we did during the recent Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme when we gave out 1.3 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to 645,000 people, making it the PPV with the most number of shots given in the country."

Previously, WTCKL has successfully served as one of the major PPVs during the administration of Covid-19 vaccines back in May to October 2021.

"Although this time we will only cater to 9,000 doses daily, our centre/facility can accommodate right up to 18,000 vaccinees daily, just like we did last time. My point is we are ever ready to increase to such capacity should the government wish to do so," added Irmohizam.
