KUALA LUMPUR: Plus Malaysia Bhd expects daily traffic will increase from 1.4 million to 1.6 million vehicles during the Chinese New Year festive period.
As such, Plus has released a travel time advisory (TTA) to guide highway users who are leaving the Klang Valley between Jan 28 and Feb 6.
The highway concessionaire advised those leaving the Klang Valley to northern states such as Perlis, Kedah, Penang and northern Perak, as well as south towards Johor to enter the highway before 10am.
Highway users heading to destinations closer to the Klang Valley and other states should plan their journey after 1pm.
Plus chief operating officer Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi encouraged travellers to follow the TTA as it could prevent vehicles heading to various destinations from converging at various locations along the highway at the same time.
He also reminded highway users to follow the standard operating procedures particularly when making stops at the rest areas and lay-bys.
"The MySejahtera scan is still required and dine-in is allowed for fully vaccinated customers while physical distancing must be adhered to."
Zakaria reminded drivers to get sufficient rest and sleep for a safe trip.
He also reiterated that proper journey planning and vehicular maintenance increases safety on the highway.
"Seat belts are strongly encouraged for all passengers sitting at the back. Child safety seats are also important to protect the little ones."
Zakaria reminded highway users to check their Touch 'n Go card and e-wallet to ensure a seamless and smooth journey.
The latest traffic updates are available from the Plus App journey planner CCTV function, PLUSTrafik Twitter and P.U.T.R.I (PLUS Unique Texting Realtime Interface) chatbot as well as the highway electronic messaging signages.
