KUALA LUMPUR: The country's Transport Minister position should be filled by someone from transport industry players, said Malaysian Land Transport Industry Players.
Its chief activist Kamarudin Mohd Hussain said highlighting their problems to the ministry through associations had not worked and the next reasonable step was through politics.
"Laws and policies made during the administration of previous ministers did not benefit us. We understand that a policy can only be changed through politics and political will," he said today.
The group submitted a memorandum to representatives of several political parties at Brainy Bunch Complex here today.
Perikatan Nasional Federal Territory liaison chairman Datuk Capt (Rtd) Muhammad Suhaimi Yahya, Pakatan Harapan (PH) communications director Fahmi Fadzil and Malaysia United Democratic Alliance (Muda) Central Executive Committee member Ismail Nasaruddin received the memorandum.
The group will also present the memorandum to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
With around 1.5 million members from the coalition including buses, lorries and limousine drivers, he said members would pledge support to a party that can fulfill their demands.
"If they are not interested then we could run as an independent candidate in the 15th GE and maybe even start our own political party in the following GE," he added.
Also present was Malaysia Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) lead activist Datuk Nadzim Johan.
